K-9 Richter was searching a multi-story building used for personal property storage in Newton Area. The K-9 located a 49 year old male suspect hiding in a confined area on the 2nd floor of structure. The suspect stabbed Richter twice. Once in custody, it was discovered that the suspect was an ex-boyfriend of the female care-taker. He was there to kill her over a dispute. Richter was hurried to medical treatment, but succumbed to his injuries the next day.
