Los Angeles Police K9 Fund
The Los Angeles Police K9 Fund has been the primary source of funding for the purchase of police service dogs for the Metropolitan Division K9 Platoon. The Los Angeles Police K9 Fund was formed in 1979 by a small group of business, professional, and community volunteers who believed the one of the most effective ways to control violent crime in the City of Los Angeles was to keep police officers on the street and available for calls for service. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this task was through the use of police canines
What We Do:
We work with community organizations and local business groups in supporting the logistical needs of the K9 Platoon. The contributors to our organization have been responsible for the purchasing of highly trained and skilled police service canines. The need to continue to support this funding is vital to support the apprehension of criminal suspects. The effectiveness and efficiency in the use of police service canines has grown considerably in the last thirty years.
